It's quite incredible how you can drive 45 minutes out of Auckland and
end up in some of the most beautiful places you've ever seen.
45 minutes outside of Auckland you can arrive at the west coast beaches. It is true what Kiwis say about needing to have a car in this city. You absolutely must have one to get out and do any sort of exploration. Luckily we were warned about this early by our lovely Air B&B host, Raktim.
Mercer Bay loop walk is located in Karekare Regional park. The track makes its way along the top of the highest sea cliffs in the Auckland region. We were taken here to do some exploration by the lovely Shannan and Reka. Reka is my awesome newly discovered long lost cousin by the way and Shannan is her just as awesome long time boyfriend.
Luckily for us, the weather was absolutely incredible and the water showcased a bunch of different beautiful bright multi color blue hues. The hike at Mercer Bay Loop was about an hour and went through some coastal type shrubbery, alongside some cliffs that faced the ocean.
We wandered through the track and really took our sweet time. Afterwards, we decided to make our way over to Anawhata. We unfortunately didn't have enough time to do the entire hike but I was able to take some really awesome pictures. There is also a secret waterfall that runs nearby that you may be able to spot in the photo.
Hopefully we may be able to tackle it in the future!
